    Interview: Jan 6th, 2004

    Monticello, Indiana

What's the most amusing and/or bizarre question a fan has ever asked you?

    Robert Jordan

Well, I've had a couple young women ask if they could bear my child. That's not the usual kind of question I get—that sort of took me aback, yes.

    Interview: Sep 2nd, 2005

    Robert Jordan

Hehe, after those questions, Zae went up to Jordan. She first said something about (I don't know exactly any more), but apparently he took it as an Asmodean question and said I killed him.

    Interview: Oct 24th, 2005

    Robert Jordan

He went on to say that the third person in line would ask "Who killed Asmodean?" He said, "this person, I am going to hit."

    Interview: Oct 24th, 2005

    Robert Jordan

Second, if anyone asked him who killed Asmodean, he was going to punch them.

I considered asking this myself, just to be 'touched' by the hand of the light. Common sense reined in my desire to take home a 'souvenir' of the evening. A photo later would do instead. Besides, RJ looked as if he had been in a fight recently, having a nice black eye. Not sure if he got on Harriet's bad side (again), but I felt that honor was the better part of valor and did not pose that question when he was signing my book, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

    Interview: Oct 26th, 2005

    Robert Jordan

Question 2 From RJ: The next person in line is going to ask me who killed Asmodean.

Answer: I'm going to reach over the table and pop him in the face!!! Someone has figured it out and posted his theory onto the web. The theory is based on his deductions, not his guesses (slightly paraphrased).

And tried to forestall the most obvious and 'hated' questions. Saying that he would punch the guy who asked about Asmodean in the nose.

    Interview: Dec 17th, 2008

    Question

Who killed Asmodean? Come on, just tell us. Please. I won't tell Harriet you told me.

    Brandon Sanderson

I answered this last year, but I was just joking. Now I've read the notes and I REALLY know who did it. Keep this as a secret between you and me, but it was Narg.

    Question

Ok, if you won't tell us, will you tell us in A Memory of Light?

    Brandon Sanderson

It will be there. I promise.

    AOL Chat 2 (Verbatim)

    Question

I lived in Charleston during Hugo—has that influenced you or the story in any way?

    Robert Jordan

I don't think your presence influenced me at all! As for the storm, it didn't influence me either, except that I have noticed sometimes, when the wind gets high, I climb up on the roof for no particular reason.

Not that I'm complaining, but could you write the books faster? I'm dying here.

    Robert Jordan

No, I can't write the bloody things any faster, and if I find out where you live, I will send my friends Little Guido and and Harry the Nail around to talk to you.

    Interview: Oct 21st, 1994

    AOL Chat 2 (Verbatim)

    Question

Robert, in just about every story that I have read, good reigns supreme. Yet, wouldn't it be interesting if evil made just a little more headway than usual?

    Robert Jordan

I think that's usually what happens in what we call a "story."

    Interview: Nov 14th, 2009

    Random Crazy Lady

Is there any chance that Cadsuane might be Ilyena reborn?

    Brandon Sanderson

I...wha?...First of all, I'm not going to answer that. Second of all...EWW! ... And you can quote me on that!

    Matoyak

[note from Mato: This was frackin' HILARIOUS. Totally unexpected, and Sanderson was totally shocked over it.]

    Interview: May 3rd, 2010

    Richard Fife

Well, at least it was only two letters and not four. OK, the last question: without using four letters, who killed Asmodean?

    Maria Simons

If you look at the back of my car, you can see "I killed Asmodean!"

    Richard Fife

There we have it. It wasn't Graendal, but Maria Simons the entire time.

    Interview: Jun 7th, 2010

    Richard Fife

And our last question: without saying R.A.F.O., who killed Asmodean?

    Brandon Sanderson

Well, without saying R.A.F.O. (except that I just did), I can say truly with no equivocation that Robert Jordan killed Asmodean, and you cannot deny that that is true.

    Richard Fife

Spoken like a true Aes Sedai.

    Interview: Aug 31st, 1999

    Question

Who would you most like to be trapped in a lift with?

    Robert Jordan

My wife. I find her infinitely fascinating and infinitely entertaining. My second choice would be a lift repair man.

    QUESTION

Who would you most DISlike to be trapped in a lift with?

    ROBERT JORDAN

I'm not going to answer that one.

    QUESTION

What would you pack for space? (Is there a food, beverage, book, teddy bear, etc that you couldn't do without?)

    ROBERT JORDAN

I assume that the oxygen is provided, so the essays of Montaigne.

    Interview: 2001

    Thus Spake the Creator (Paraphrased)

    Signing Report (Bela)

As he grabbed my second book, I asked, "Is Bela the Creator?"

    Robert Jordan

"No, she's Nae'blis," he said, laughing. He went on to say something along the lines of: I know all your theories about her being Nae'blis.

    Reporter

As he handed me my book, I asked, "Is Bela the Dark One?"

    Robert Jordan

He laughed. "Hmmmm," he said, "I might do something with that... No, just kidding."

    Reporter

I stepped away but lingered as he signed the next person's first book.

    Robert Jordan

As he grabbed the second book, he said, "She's the avatar of Ilyena Sunhair." [I think it was Sunhair. Is that her name?]

    Reporter

He went on to say that Ilyena died, but had bad karma. I'm serious.

    Interview: Dec 15th, 2011

    Question

Which I did catch was very entertaining to see like that [regarding the Aluminum Hats].

    Brandon Sanderson

I built aluminum to do all sorts of funky things to all the powers, and I actually hadn’t made the connection of tinfoil hats until after I’d built it in, and I was writing it in Alloy of Law, years after I built it in, saying “Wait a minute! I just put tinfoil hats in the book!” (laughter) So I actually built that without thinking that there would be a joke to that.

    Interview: Dec 15th, 2011

    Question

I've heard rumors of a Mistborn movie. Is that true?

    Brandon Sanderson

The Mistborn movie, is not even up to handshakes now. We do have a Vin chosen, but it’s not official yet, so I can’t say who it is.

    QUESTION

I've heard rumors. Will you confirm or deny this?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

    What rumor?

    QUESTION

    Linsey Lohan?

    (Wild laughter)

    BRANDON SANDERSON

Yeah, I can deny that one. (Continued Laughter) It's not Paris Hilton's dog either.

Yeah, basically it’s where it’s been at for a while, which is we’re at a good version of the screenplay, we’re trying now to get people to look at it in Hollywood.

    Interview: Oct 20th, 1994

    Robert Jordan

He also asked me to mention that he would neither confirm or deny the speculation that Bela, in fact killed Asmodean. I replied that I had my own theory; it was Mandarb. His wife chuckled. It was a very pleasant afternoon, and I consider it time well spent, and an honor to meet an author who treats his fans like friends.

    Interview: Apr 17th, 2012

    Google+ Hangout (Verbatim)

    Will

The silly question is, who would win in a fight? Vin or Vasher or the Nightblood?

    Brandon Sanderson

And who would win in a fight between Vin and Vasher? It would probably depend on who got the jump on who. Vin's a bit more sneaky so I have the feeling that Vasher would be in trouble if it involved sneaking but Vasher is - he only has to get one little cut on you and you're gone so it's, it would probably- my money would be on Vin.
